On April 23, 1951, the Battle of Kapyong began in South Korea, between UN Forces and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army (PVA). The UN Forces consisted of troops from South Korea, USA, Australia, UK, Canada, and New Zealand.
On April 27th, 1951, despite being outnumbered, UN Forces secured a victory against the PVA. Afterward, 3 UN units (2 PPCLI, 3 RAR and A Company, US 72nd Heavy Tank Battalion) were awarded the US Presidential Unit Citation for their actions during battle.
