Operation Junction City began on February 22, 1967, the first large U.S. combat airborne operation since the Korean War. It was carried out by U.S. and South Vietnamese forces against the Viet Cong (VC). The operation lasted for 82 days in total, ending on April 15, 1967.
The Operation's goal was to locate the VC headquarters in South Vietnam. U.S. forces were able to capture items from these headquarters such as film reels, food, and documents.
